Student Transportation Vehicle Driver

About the Role

Safety First is seeking reliable, safety-minded V- or F-endorsed drivers to join our student transportation team. In this role, you will safely and professionally transport school-aged children to and from school, programs, and approved activities using Safety First transportation vehicles. This is a meaningful position where you play a direct role in supporting students, families, schools, and the community by providing dependable and professional transportation.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school, programs, and approved activities
• Follow assigned routes and schedules
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Follow all applicable state and company safety requirements
• Ensure proper loading and unloading of students
• Conduct required child checks after every route
• Maintain professional communication with dispatch, parents, and school staff
• Report delays, incidents, accidents, or mechanical concerns promptly
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean, organized, and safe
• Represent Safety First with professionalism and respect

Requirements

• Valid Connecticut driver's license
• V endorsement (Student Transportation Vehicle) or F endorsement (Public Service)
• Clean driving record
• Able to pass a background check
• Able to pass drug and alcohol screening
• Able to pass a motor vehicle record check
• Able to pass any required medical examination
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to work morning and/or afternoon shifts
• Dependability and punctuality
• A strong commitment to student safety

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous student transportation experience
• Experience working with children
• V-endorsed driver's license
• Experience using GPS, telematics, or dispatch systems
